How Techo-Bloc Products Are Made – Part 1

Paver Pete guides us through the manufacturing process of our G-Force wall blocks inside one of our plants. In this part, we cover handling of raw materials, pigment loading and mixing.

Raw materials and handling

The raw materials we use are composed of multiple types of aggregates and sand.

At the start of the manufacturing process, they are charged on a loader and dumped on an opening.

The aggregates fall on a bucket conveyor that brings them to the silos.

This bucket conveyor and the silos both allow us to maintain the quality of the raw materials by keeping a consistent gradation.

Pigment loading

The pigment dispensing system we have permits us to air blow iron oxide pigments into the mixer.

The dispensing can be controlled to maintain consistent quality and color.

Concrete mixing

The mix of aggregates and pigments is brought from the silos to the planetary mixers.

More iron oxide pigments are air blown into the mix.

Water is added after all the aggregates, sand and pigments have been mixed together.

Then, the mixture is transferred to three hoppers. Each hopper contains a specific color to provide multiple blending options.

After this step, it goes to three separate conveyors, eventually feeding the machine that produces the blocks.
