In part 3, we covered drainage, grid reinforcement and backfill. Now, Paver Pete reviews the final result of this segmental retaining wall project.
The G-Force wall blocks we laid for this project are 18-inches-wide, 8-inches-tall, and have a depth of 12 inches.
So, the wall has weight, width, depth and setback.
The setback is given to us by an independent mechanical device which is packaged with the block for free.
Once it is inserted, it ties the geogrid in the wall, making sure that we have the correct structural integrity and setback.
By using a tape measure against the foundation wall of the house, we notice that on a course we have about 2 inches of setback.
Once we bring it 4 courses higher, we are at 4 inches, so almost a half inch of setback.
That gives us the batter we need to retain the soil of the rest of the backyard.
Compared to the front wall, the return wall has a vertical setback.
The vertical setting of our G-Force wall in Champlain Grey gives us a nice flush appearance with our Raffinato steps in Greyed Nickel.
The color of the steps is a lighter, brighter, welcoming color.
We also added In-Lite lights on the top of the wall. We ran the wire and plugged the connectors. It’s very simple to tie the whole system together.
Again, bringing a welcoming feel that this back area.
Once the lighting is done, we will glue down our Raffinato cap in 60 mm, also in Greyed Nickel.
